A few days ago, Jericho dropped a hint of quitting WWE during an interview with Josh Matthews on Monday Night Raw. In the interview, Jericho promised that if he fails to re-gain the WWE title in WWE’s upcoming Night of Champions PPV, that will be the end of Jericho as a wrestler. This interview was considered as a hint as unconfirmed reports stated Jericho’s contract with WWE will expire in 2011.
Jericho, who will turn 40 this November, has taken a long break from wrestling earlier. He had spent two long years in a self-imposed exile since 2005 and returned in 2007. During this time, Jericho hosted several music and reality events and spent some quality time with his family. Many wrestling enthusiasts believe the break helped Jericho to regain the enthusiasm for the sport and since the return, he looks better than ever.
But this week on Raw, Jericho failed to secure a championship match against the current champion Shemus when he lost to John Morrison. This defeat has intensified the speculation, perhaps he is definitely leaving and WWE creative team, therefore, pulled him out of the PPV and the key storyline. Taking him out of the championship match may also mean dropping the ‘quit’ storyline as he won’t be facing the champion this time.
