Were you surprised to see Christian turn a heel? Don’t be so. To keep the heat in the Orton-Christian rivalry, that was probably the only path that WWE creative team could have taken. After all, they could not risk a heel turn of their main face of SmackDown, Randy Orton. But to spice up this already budding rivalry, the only way out was to make Christian a heel.
WWE Universe must not have forgotten the amount of rage that was noticed among fans after Christian lost his World Heavyweight Championship to Randy Orton, only after a few days of winning it. Now, turning Christian a heel may not go down well with the fans either. However, according to insiders, this whole title loss was written to turn Christian a heel. SmackDown has a lot of heel superstars but it is a fact that none of them will be more effective when compared to Captain Charisma.
Only time can tell that whether Christian’s heel turn helps SmackDown regain its ratings or not. WWE must be hoping that this new turn works and fans then will get to see some more Christian-Orton inside the ring. After all, these two set the house on fire once they start wrestling each other.

Well an Orton dominated main event where he retains and win matches all the time will probably not help ratings much. As far as Christian and older fans go that is. I mean like Cena I’m sure he’ll see merch but as far as drawing ratings goes…
Cena benefits from the live show, I’m sure. Just because at the end of the day you never know. However as far as Orton goes, the small chance something else might happen is taken away by the fact you know what happens on “his” show three days ahead of the time.
