You can now find new house shows like “WWE Superstars” and “WWE NXT“. Similarly, “Over the Limit” is the promotion’s brand new PPV and it drew some attention as it was the first PPV after this years’ Draft. Now let’s see if it worked or not:

The show began with the Intercontinental Title Match between Kofi Kingston and Drew McIntyre. Kofi took around six minutes to beat McIntyre and win the title. Drew requested Smackdown GM Teddy Long to reverse the decision. Fortunately for the viewers, that didn’t happen as McIntyre was paid back with his own coin by Matt Hardy, the guy whom Drew savagely beat some weeks ago.

The next match was between R-Truth and Ted DiBiase, accompanied by Virgil yet gain. The match could live up t the expectation and the way Truth managed a pinfall victory; it seemed DiBiase have picked up some sort of injury.

The third match of the night had some good build ups earlier. It was between Rey Mysterio and CM Punk. The stipulation of the match was that if Rey loose, he will join Punk’s Straightedge Society; but if he wins, Punk will have his head shaved. At one point, the match looked pretty boring but the superstars picked it up nicely from there and created a terrific closing sequence. Rey won the match and Brutus Beefcake appeared to shave Punk’s head nearly bald.

The next match was between The Hart Dynasty and the team of The Miz and Chris Jericho. The Canadians won the match after they hit a Hart Attack on Miz and retained their title. This was followed by the match between Randy Orton and Edge. But it seemed Randy picked up an injury during the match and the wrestlers improvised a double count out finish, something that was not a part of the booking.

The match between Big Show and Jack Swagger failed to impress as WWE decided go to with their age old and irritating cop-out finish. Swagger intentionally disqualified himself and had some serious beating from Show. But the fans didn’t the ending at all.

The final match of the night between Dave Batista and WWE Champion John Cena was a good one. Cena forced Dave to say “I Quit” and kept the title. This might well be the last match of Batista as he has plans to retire from professional wrestling soon. When Cena was celebrating his victory, Sheamus showed up and kicked the champ to set the feud.

Dave Batista is no more a WWE superstar as he decided to try his hand with Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). In fact, he is all set to make his Strikeforce debut soon after he is done with his shooting for Scorpion King 3. WWE is keen to make this WrestleMania the grandest one in the recent years and working on every possible aspect. Many of the fans thought Batista will make a special appearance in WrestleMania 27 as WWE creative team, indeed, had such a plan. But now it seems that appearance won’t be coming; neither WWE made any contact with Dave nor started a negotiation. Another former WWE who was expected to make a special appearance during WrestleMania was Chris Jericho. But that was a rumor only, Y2J has no plans to return to wrestling any time soon. But in WWE, never say never!

WWE diva Melina is scheduled to turn heel soon. She will soon have a feud with Nataliya over the WWE Divas Title. But WWE creative team has decided to make it a slow turn rather than an abrupt transformation. Melina, initially, was not interested to turn heel and the creative team took a few weeks to convince her about this storyline. Her reunion with John Morrison on WWE TV may also be over after this transformation.

WWE had plans to induct Bill Goldberg this year for the class of WWE Hall of Fame 2011. But now it seems the discussions are “ice cold” at this point. The organization so far had not approached the former WCW and WWE superstar yet. We have to wait a little more to get any confirmation about this possibility.

Jericho will show up nowhere else except WWE. The fans can now have a deep sigh of relief to know that though Jericho has decided to take a break from professional wrestling, he is a dedicated member of WWE family. Only a few days back, Y2J hinted a possible hiatus from wrestling and as he shares a great relationship with TNA president Dixie Carter, the wrestling universe thought it’s only a matter of time to see Jericho in WWE’s rival promotion. But Jericho has cleared the air recently in an interview where he expressed his undying loyalty to Vince McMahon’s organization. Jericho has always loved to maintain an air of mystery and wants to keep the fans busy in guessing his next step. He is currently occupied with the preparations for a three-week long UK tour with his band Fozzy and “what happens after that is what happens after that”, said the 39 year old Canadian.

Another WWE superstar, Dave Batista, is also out of the ring for quite some time. He is no longer under a WWE contract and his information is deleted from the official WWE website. Initially, the wrestling fans thought it was because of his injury; but later everybody came to know Dave has taken a break from professional wrestling due to his repeated injuries. After his recovery, Dave Batista said in an interview that he has plans to go to MMA or build a career in acting. But recently, he has also hinted a return to WWE, not anytime sooner though.

The news is certainly a big shock for the fans of sports entertainment, but it seems that the speculations are true. Big Dave, indeed, has plans to call it a day sometime in 2010 and WrestlerSpeaks is not happy to announce it. His contract with WWE will end soon and Dave is not interested in a renewal. The fans show the retirement of Heart Break Kid only a few months ago and the retirement of another big star in business in the same year may prove to be a severe blow to the company and the ratings.

But for Dave, it’s a smart decision, particularly health wise. In a recent interview, Dave Batista said that he wants to bid a good bye in his prime. He is not interested to hang around even after his body surrenders to take anymore beating. He has several career threatening injuries in his life and his 40 year old body may not be able to survive further damages. The fans always enjoyed his feuds against John Cena and Batista too wishes to involve in another Cena-Batista rivalry before he calls it a day. In recent times, we experienced a similar rivalry between these two superstars. “Over the Limit”, the last WWE Pay per View, brought an end of a Cena-Batista rivalry. But is this also the end of “The Animal”? Only time will tell.
